From Dr. James' Teachings

I was once called to a man’s house who had been in bed for weeks coughing and wheezing. The physicians had classified it "walking pneumonia." I scratched my head about that, because the only ones that had been doing any walking were the physicians, not this man.

As part of his program, I had him taking high amounts of Monia along with a homemade herbal cough syrup. As he began to regain his strength and the congestion cleared, the doses of both were gradually reduced.

Because he had had pneumonia, he would now have a greater susceptibility to getting it and other lung problems again. After he had recovered, he was to continue taking Monia for 3 months to help build, tone, and strengthen his lungs. We have used this herbal formula since 1980 with practically every lung problem imaginable, and we have seen fantastic results in all cases.

From My Own Practice

I have personally relied on Monia more than once. In my mid-twenties, I came down with a severe case of bronchitis. I was so miserable that I slept in a recliner beside my parents' bed because I was having such a difficult time. Even swallowing capsules was painful. Daddy would prepare Monia as a tea for me, and although I have to admit it is not the best-tasting tea you'll ever drink (it's gross), I drank it faithfully along with the rest of the necessary herbs. Before long, I had overcome the bronchitis.

I've also had pneumonia, and since then I've developed a healthy respect for supporting the lungs whenever they're under stress. If you've ever experienced that deep, itchy, scratchy sensation in your chest that almost feels like you wish you could scratch your lungs, you know exactly what I mean. Monia is one of the formulas I think of when clients describe that feeling.

In my practice, Monia is one of my primary formulas whenever the lungs need additional support. Whether someone is recovering from bronchitis or pneumonia, dealing with asthma, or simply wants to provide extra nutritional support for lungs that have been exposed to years of smoking, Monia is often part of the program I recommend.

Monia is typically a complementary formula rather than a stand-alone one, though it is powerful in it's own right. When someone comes to me with respiratory concerns, I will often begin with Hay Asz to provide broad respiratory support, then add Monia to give more focused nutritional support to the lungs themselves. The two formulas work very well together, and I frequently recommend them as a team.

Dosage Guide

The directions on the bottle provide a general recommendation. In my own practice, I view those amounts as a starting point, not a limit. During times of greater discomfort, I adjust the amount and frequency according to the level of support the body seems to need.

A personal note for my clients: If we've worked together recently, please follow the recommendations I gave you during your consultation. They were personalized to your individual health needs, goals, and circumstances and may differ from the general dosage suggestions provided here or on the bottle.
