From Dr. James' Teachings

Nerquilizer got its name from a blend of the words nerve and tranquilizer. This formula is specifically designed to nourish and support the nervous system.

Many times, the body tells you that it hurts when there is no actual tissue damage. This can be the result of a misfire or miscommunication within the nervous system. The nervous system could be compared to a string of beads. The beads share a myelin sheath, which serves as their means of communication. If the nervous system does not have the proper nutrients to remain healthy, it may misfire, and those misfires can be interpreted as pain.

This formula nourishes and tones the nervous system, enabling the body to better deal with severe nerve disorders, including clinical depression, insomnia, and migraines.

Whenever you hear about a sudden discovery claiming that a particular herb causes damage, even though that herb has been used safely for centuries, it is reasonable to ask what really happened. I have followed this misinformation back to its source, and in most cases, the story follows a familiar pattern.

A large pharmaceutical company discovers that an herb produces a desirable effect, such as clearing congestion in the lungs or relaxing the nervous system. The herb accomplishes this through the many naturally occurring compounds that Mother Nature combined within the plant. The company's research and development department analyzes the herb to determine which chemical or group of chemicals produces the desired effect. They isolate that chemical, chemically recreate it, and then give only that isolated compound to test subjects, without the balancing influence of the herb's other naturally occurring constituents.

Initially, they observe the same desired effect. The recreated chemical clears the lungs, calms the nervous system, or performs whatever function they were seeking. Later, however, they discover unacceptable side effects, such as liver damage or other health concerns.

Unfortunately, the message eventually shared with the public is often that scientists have discovered a chemical in the herb that causes liver damage. What is frequently left unsaid is that the isolated, laboratory-created version was what produced the problem, not necessarily the herb as it has traditionally been used in its whole form. The attempt to duplicate Nature's design failed, and the side effects came from the recreated compound rather than the complete plant itself.

Case in point: Valerian Root was studied during the development of Valium. Valium can be habit-forming and is associated with a long list of potential side effects, including drowsiness, dizziness, hallucinations, confusion, depression, irritability, rash, itching, vision changes, constipation or diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, difficulty urinating, slowed heartbeat, breathing difficulties, mouth and throat ulcers, and jaundice. It is also not recommended for certain medical conditions and carries important precautions.

By contrast, Valerian Root is a well-known traditional herb. In combination with the other herbs in Nerquilizer, it is one part of a carefully balanced formula designed to nourish and strengthen the nervous system while working in harmony with the body's natural functions. Nerquilizer is intended to support the nervous system and is not designed to control it or create dependency.

From My Own Practice

I'm in love with Nerquilizer... and Chillin. They're best friends.

As a teenager, this was one of my go-to formulas. Whenever I had boy problems, school stress, anxiety, or just felt emotionally overwhelmed, I reached for Nerquilizer, often along with Chillin.

In fact, one day I was so upset that I reached into the bucket of freshly made Nerquilizer while we were encapsulating it here in New Mexico. (Don't worry, I had gloves on.) I decided that whatever fit in my hand was what I was going to take. I counted... Seventeen capsules.

Would I recommend that amount all at once? No. Over the course of the day? Absolutely!

What I learned was that I definitely should have drunk more water because I spent the next little while burping up herbal powder. But something else happened. Once the heartburn settled down, my nerves settled down too. I felt like myself again. The emotional spiral stopped, and I was back to being Jessica.

Years later, when my dad passed away in 2016, and again after my mom passed away nearly two years later, Nerquilizer and Chillin' became daily companions. Looking back, I now recognize that I wasn't simply grieving. I had slipped into a true depression. At the time, I didn't realize it because I wasn't constantly crying. Instead, I was exhausted. Getting out of bed felt overwhelming, and falling asleep at night often felt just as difficult. During that season of my life, Nerquilizer became one of the formulas I reached for most consistently.

Even today, Nerquilizer is one of the formulas I reach for most often. If someone is feeling overwhelmed or emotionally stretched and has never experienced herbal support before, Nerquilizer and Chillin are the formulas I choose. I've found that people frequently notice the support soon enough that they begin to understand why I've trusted herbs for so many years.

If I'm already feeling emotionally stretched, I'll take Nerquilizer in the moment. On the other hand, if I know I'm heading into a stressful situation, expecting undesirable company, or attending an event I'm not looking forward to, I'll often take Nerquilizer and Chillin' beforehand. I don't worry about exact timing. I simply like to give my body a little extra support before, or during, the situations that challenge my nervous system. I've found that it helps me stay calm, think more clearly, and respond more like myself instead of reacting out of stress.

Over the years, I've recommended Nerquilizer to many clients who are dealing with stress, nervous tension, difficulty relaxing, trouble sleeping... and the list goes on and on. I always have it on hand because you never know when you, or even a friend or loved one, might need it. In my experience, supporting the nervous system with this formula can have a surprisingly broad influence on how we feel, think, and function. While it isn't a substitute for addressing the underlying causes of stress or other health concerns, it has earned a permanent place in both my own medicine cabinet and my practice.

Dosage Guide

The directions on the bottle provide a general recommendation. In my own practice, I view those amounts as a starting point, not a limit. During times of greater discomfort, I adjust the amount and frequency according to the level of support the body seems to need.

A personal note for my clients: If we've worked together recently, please follow the recommendations I gave you during your consultation. They were personalized to your individual health needs, goals, and circumstances and may differ from the general dosage suggestions provided here or on the bottle.

Support Needed

Maintenance

Mild

Moderate

Intensive

Common Amount

2 capsules daily

2 capsules twice times daily

2 capsules three times daily

3 capsules three times daily

Don't be afraid to take enough to notice a difference. During particularly stressful times, it's perfectly reasonable to use Nerquilizer more frequently for a while, then gradually space the doses farther apart as your nervous system settles. Listen to your body. If you need a little extra support between your regular doses, take it. As things improve, you'll naturally find yourself needing it less often. Your needs may change from day to day, or even moment to moment.
