From My Own Practice

I absolutely love Dong Quai. When it comes to breast tenderness, whether for myself, friends, family, or clients, this is my go-to herb.

Most women will experience breast tenderness at some point in their lives. It may happen during puberty, around the menstrual cycle, during pregnancy, throughout the years leading up to menopause, or for any number of other reasons. While the cause isn't always the same, the need for relief often is.

Of course, breast tenderness is only one piece of the picture. Dong Quai has traditionally been used to support healthy female hormone balance throughout every stage of life. Whether a woman is dealing with monthly hormonal changes, perimenopause, menopause, mood fluctuations, or simply wants additional nutritional support for her hormonal system, Dong Quai is a beautiful herb to consider. I often recommend it alongside Tonic F and/or Her Mone when I feel a little extra support would be beneficial.

One thing I also encourage women to consider is discontinuing caffeine. Over the years, I have found that caffeine, even in small amounts, is one of the most common contributors to ongoing breast tenderness. Dong Quai can provide excellent nutritional support, but reducing or eliminating caffeine may make an even greater difference. Addressing both together often brings the best results.

I appreciate herbs that work with the body rather than against it. My goal is never to force the body to do something unnatural. Instead, I want to nourish the organs and tissues that produce and regulate hormones so they can do the job they were designed to do. That's exactly where I feel Dong Quai shines.

Dosage Guide

The directions on the bottle provide a general recommendation. In my own practice, I view those amounts as a starting point, not a limit. During times of greater discomfort, I adjust the amount and frequency according to the level of support the body seems to need.

They were personalized to your individual health needs, goals, and circumstances and may differ from the general dosage suggestions provided here or on the bottle.

Symptomatic

For symptomatic use, don't be afraid to take enough to notice a difference. Most women find they only need a few capsules before the tenderness begins to improve. Continue taking two capsules as needed until the tenderness is gone.
