From Dr. James' Teachings

If there was ever a single formula that the whole world needed, it would be Tonic F. Whenever women visit the clinic, and I ask the question, "Do you have any menstrual problems?" 90% of the time they say, "Oh, no, I'm normal." I have learned to ask, "What exactly is normal?" Some of them will describe bloating, breast tenderness, moodiness, or being a little cranky. When I was a kid, they called these symptoms "cramps." Today, it is called P.M.S., and women have bought into the idea that this is normal. Well, it's not. It absolutely is not.

Menstrual cycles should come and go, and there should not be any noticeable signs except for the flow. Tonic F will change that flow. It will increase it where it needs to be increased, and it will decrease it when it needs to be decreased. In other words, Tonic F will normalize the flow.

It will help relieve the cramps, the moodiness, and the breast tenderness associated with this, so I tell people it takes three months. It's not like having a sore thumb. You can tell every day that a sore thumb is getting better. With your cycle, you can't tell if you're getting better or not until you begin to flow, so it takes two or three months to notice any changes. Then, about the fourth or fifth month, they might have a cycle that they describe as "from hell."

The main reason for this is that many modern women's female function has become degraded, so much so that they are ovulating on only one side. The body heals that one side first, and normal female function returns to that side. Then the body decides to work on the other ovary. It might take several months to complete the process of toning up that side.

Once normal female function has been restored for two or three months, the formula may be discontinued. If the symptoms recur, Tonic F should be continued for a few more months. With Tonic F, it is important to take it daily, not just during menstruation.

My definition of normal? No pain, no discomfort, and the flow is proper. It's not too heavy, and it's not too light. We are not causing a dependency. We are trying to see if the deficiencies that have existed in our diet have normalized themselves and have changed enough so that normal female function can occur. This is what Tonic F accomplishes.

From My Own Practice

I grew up in a home with eight girls, so we had plenty of opportunity to learn what Tonic F could do. Between my sisters, my mother, and later the women I worked with alongside my dad, I've watched this formula support women through nearly every stage of life. Over the years, it has become one of those formulas that I simply expect to have on hand because there are very few times in a woman's life when good nutritional support for her female system isn't beneficial.

Most people think of Tonic F as a menstrual formula, and it certainly shines there. During the childbearing years, it can help support a healthy menstrual flow, whether the body tends toward a flow that is unusually light or unusually heavy. It also provides nutritional support for many of the common discomforts women associate with their monthly cycle, including cramping, breast tenderness, and mood changes. In my own practice, I also include Tonic F whenever I am supporting women with concerns such as ovarian cysts or other female hormonal imbalances. To me, these are signs that the female system could benefit from additional nutritional support. Rather than trying to chase individual hormones or focus on a single symptom, my goal is to nourish the organs and tissues that make up the female reproductive and hormonal system so they have the resources they need to function as they were designed.

What I appreciate most about Tonic F is that it is about much more than menstruation. During a woman's fertile years, the ovaries are central to healthy female hormone production. As life changes through menopause or after a hysterectomy, the body continues to produce and regulate female hormones through other tissues and organs. Menopause marks the end of menstrual cycles, not the end of the body's need for healthy female hormones. That is one of the reasons I continue recommending Tonic F well beyond the childbearing years.

Because of that, I don't think of Tonic F as something to take only when symptoms appear. I think of it as a daily nutritional foundation for women. Once puberty begins, often around the time breast development starts, young girls can begin benefiting from the nutritional support Tonic F provides. From there, I consider it a formula that can remain part of a woman's wellness program throughout every stage of life. Whether she is a teenager, in her childbearing years, navigating menopause, or well beyond it, I believe every woman deserves good nutritional support for the remarkable system that makes her uniquely female.
